New Patients in Wigton, Cumbria

Whether you've just moved to the area, your old dentist has closed, or it's been a while since you last sat in the chair, you're welcome here.

We’re an independent private practice on Wigton High Street, and we look after individuals, couples and families from across North Cumbria. We’re growing this autumn, with two new dentists joining the team, so we have more room for new patients than we’ve had for some time.

your first visit

We don't rush new patients through the door. Your first visit is about getting to know you, not getting straight on with treatment. Here's what happens.

A proper conversation

You’ll start by sitting down with Jess, our treatment coordinator, in a quiet room away from the surgery. She’ll ask about your dental history, anything that’s worried you in the past, and what you’d like from us. There’s no examination until you’re ready and nothing is decided at this stage. It’s just listening.

A free digital scan

We take a quick 3D scan of your teeth with a small handheld camera.

No impressions, no discomfort.

It means we can show you exactly what we’re seeing on a screen, rather than describing it.

Your examination

Your dentist then carries out a full check of your teeth, gums, jaw joints and the soft tissues of your mouth, including a mouth cancer check.

We’ll photograph anything we want to keep an eye on and take X-rays only where they’re needed.

A clear plan, in writing.

Before you leave you’ll know what we found, what we’d suggest and roughly what it would cost. If any treatment is recommended, you’ll get a written estimate.

There’s no obligation to go ahead with any of it, and nobody will chase you.

Allow around an hour for your first visit. It’s all one appointment: you’ll see Jess first, and when you’re ready she’ll hand you over to your dentist for the examination.

Who you'll meet

Jess is the first person new patients sit down with. She’ll talk you through how the practice works, make sure any worries are heard before you see the dentist, and stay your point of contact if you go on to have treatment.

Your examination will be with one of our dentists; which one depends on the day you choose. Every dentist has their own page, so you can read about them and the treatments they provide before you come in.

What it costs

Your first visit is £99. That covers the conversation with your treatment coordinator, your digital scan, photographs, a full examination by your dentist and a written plan.

X-rays are charged separately, from £18, and only taken where they’re needed. If you’d like a hygiene appointment as well, we can book that on the same day or another time; a scale and polish is £75.

We ask for a £20 deposit when you book, which comes off the cost of your visit. If you need to cancel or move your appointment, just give us more than 48 hours’ notice and we’ll refund it in full.

If you decide to join our monthly plan after your first visit, your check-ups and hygiene appointments are included and you get 10% off most treatment. There’s no need to decide before you come in.

Nervous, or not been for years?

You are far from the only one. Plenty of our patients hadn’t seen a dentist in five, ten or twenty years before they came to us, and some of them still tell us they were dreading that first appointment.

Here’s what we can promise.

If you’d rather come in just to meet the team and see the practice before booking anything, that’s fine too; ring us and ask.

We're currently booking new patient appointments from October, when our two new dentists join.

If you’d like to be seen sooner, tell us when you book and we’ll add you to the cancellation list; we ring through it every week.

If you’re in pain now, don’t wait: ring us on 016973 42084 and ask for an emergency appointment. We see new patients for emergencies too.
