Dental check-ups in Wigton, Cumbria

Regular dental examinations are an essential part of maintaining a healthy smile, allowing your dentist to detect potential issues early and keep your teeth and gums in the best possible condition.

Your First Visit:
Taking time to get it right

Starting with a proper conversation

We don’t rush new patients through the door. Your first visits are designed to give us a proper understanding of you, your history and your goals.

You’ll begin with a relaxed, informal conversation with our Treatment Coordinator Jess. This is your chance to talk openly about:

  • Past dental experiences
  • Any worries or anxieties
  • What you’d like to improve or maintain

There’s no pressure and no treatment at this stage, just listening.

Seeing, Not Guessing

You’ll receive a complimentary 3D intraoral scan. This allows us to show you what’s happening in your mouth, explain things clearly, and tailor advice specifically to you.

Clinical Examination

Your dentist will then carry out a thorough oral health examination, which may include photographs and X-rays where needed.

Regular dental check-ups

If you want a quick 5 minute in-and-out check-up, you might be disappointed. Our clinicians ensure they cover every aspect of your oral health in their thorough examinations so you have the peace of mind that your oral health is in safe hands and your treatment plan has been specifically tailored to your needs.

Your dentist will:

  • Assess all hard and soft tissues, muscles, jaw joints and check for lumps and bumps
  • Full oral cancer screening
  • X-rays that are appropriate for your mouth (additional to oral health check fee)
  • Photograph any teeth, fillings or tissues that need monitoring to ensure we can pick up any changes as early as possible
  • Take a 3D scan of your teeth to assess your bite, monitor toothwear and plan any changes to your smile

We ensure there is enough time to talk through any treatment options, answer any questions, address any concerns and ensure you are completely comfortable and at ease.

Unfortunately, our treatment areas are unsuitable for patients over 135kg due to safety restrictions on our equipment. If you are above 135kg, please contact our reception team who will be more than happy to help facilitate a referral to the Carlisle Dental Centre for treatment.
